In most cases, the process completion period depends upon the operating system age and last scanned period. Don’t work in the background in the meantime because some applications are affected badly, and they go unresponsive but nothing to fear here. Do not hesitate to reinstall a fresh copy of Windows because it pretty much solves all major software related problems.

5. Manual Settings
I don’t recommend this method until or unless, you are willing to keep the operating system up-to-date manually. I’m an expert when it comes to keeping the computer in top-notch condition but I cannot say the same for beginners and gullible people.
Step 1: Open “Services” using the search bar or you can use RUN application and type “services.msc” to open.
Step 2: Scroll down to the bottom to select “Windows Update” and right-mouse click for more options, and then click on “Properties” to continue.
Step 3: Change the start type to “Manual” and then click on “Apply” and then “OK” to complete the changes.
Restart the computer to end the process permanently or until you check for the updates manually. The startup type remains “Automatic” by default, and do not disable the function because it will harm the computer in the future. No need to worry about adverse effects because you can always revert back to the original settings by following the same guide in reverse.
