- Oral Cancer refers to the cancer of the gums, tongue, pipe, cheek, the floor of the mouth, hard or soft palate. Intake of tobacco (By either smoking or chewing) is the potential risk factor for oral cancer.

There are several factors related to poor oral hygiene that leads to gingivitis and periodontitis:

- Intake of medications decreases the amount of saliva in the mouth.

- Infections like HIV or AIDS

Research has proved the connection between declining oral health and underlying systemic conditions; a healthy mouth helps to maintain a healthy body. The oral bacteria and inflammation may lead to heart disease, endocarditis, premature birth, or low birth weight.
Maintenance of oral health and hygiene is a life long process, there is no skipping in between. The earlier you adopt a proper oral hygiene routine like brushing, flossing, and keeping the sugar intake in control, the easier it is for you to avoid costly dental treatments and other serious health problems.
