The LCD with LED backlight or LED display is an LCD display that uses a type of lighting based on light-emitting diodes (LEDs) instead of the fluorescent lamps used in traditional LCD displays. Backlight units are necessary for LCD displays because they do not have their own luminance.
Until now, the most commonly used backlight unit has been the CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent light), but the qualities of LED technology, such as long life expectancy, fast response, wide color gamut, and environmental friendliness, have made LED backlighting the best candidate to replace it.
Since the only change in the monitor is only in the back lamps, the monitor will inherit exactly the same characteristics as the panel it is made of, only improving the elements related to illumination, but never the viewing quality of the panel.
This type of backlighting does not change the image quality of monitors or televisions, since the panel technology is the same, but the vision does. The difference is in the type of illumination, achieving more energy efficiency and more effective lighting. They are cheap to manufacture, but not like fluorescent tubes.
