As if wedding celebrations don’t cost enough already, honeymoons are often equally expensive. Most couples want to create memorable experiences in the most romantic locations. After all, this is an occasion that needs to be celebrated! But often the cost of a luxurious holiday can put a strain on the available budget. We wanted to find the best and most affordable options for a romantic honeymoon on a budget.

Choose cheaper ways to travel

It’s not always necessary to fly to a destination that is only a few hours by car. Taking a train can also be relaxing. You don’t need to think about driving or spending time at busy airports. Especially during the pandemic, train travel can be a safer option. You can explore beaches nearby or drive out into the countryside. If you travel by train, you could even visit several places and are not restricted to one destination.

Go camping!

Another option could be a romantic road trip. You could spend nights gazing at the stars together and enjoy nature. Hiring a campervan or a more luxurious motorhome could give you the option of travelling wherever you choose to. You might even make a spontaneous decision on the road to visit a city you have always dreamt of visiting.

Airbnb and Housesitting

Airbnb offers some very special accommodations at an affordable price. You could stay in a luxury lodge with a whirlpool, a pretty cottage in the countryside or a guestroom close by the beach. Some hosts even allow you to bring your dog, so you can enjoy long walks together. Of course, there are many alternatives to Airbnb and you could also stay with a friend or relative.

Finding the best deals

Planning your stay as early as possible can be very helpful when looking for the best deals. This will also give you enough time to plan your wedding day and not have to rush to find a hotel or flight for your trip afterwards. Sometimes vouchers can help reduce the price of a trip and insider tips on hidden spots and smaller hotels can be very valuable.

You are not limited to expensive hotels and flights but have many options available. Searching for the best prices on the internet and asking other couples for recommendations can greatly reduce the cost of your honeymoon.
