Police are struggling to identify a man who was killed when he was hit by a car while walking in Mountain View Monday night, a police spokeswoman said.
Police responded to the collision just before 9 p.m. on North Shoreline Boulevard, police spokeswoman Liz Wylie said.
The collision was not a hit-and-run, and the driver stayed on the scene and was very cooperative with investigators, Wylie said.
The driver had been traveling north on North Shoreline Boulevard when he hit the man just after Wright Avenue.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene, Wylie said. He was not carrying identification so police are not yet sure who he is.
Police stayed on the scene investigating overnight, and northbound North Shoreline Boulevard has been shut down through the night, but was expected to reopen at around 6 a.m., Wylie said.
"Basically at this point trying to figure out who is he and what happened," Wylie said.
