Where is the SCVNGR app?

Search "SCVNGR" in the App Store or Android Market. Android devices must have OS 2.1 or higher.

How do I score points in this trek?

By going to the places in The Bay Citizen Bluegrass trek and doing the challenges *in* that trek. At each place in the trek (all of which are located at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival from October 1-3), you'll see two types of challenges; Bay Citizen challenges (featured up top) and normal challenges further down. At the very top highlighted in the "challenges in treks" section are the challenges in The Bay Citizen Bluegrass trek. Doing these challenges will earn you points in The Bay Citizen Bluegrass trek. Doing the other challenges (in the second section further down) will earn you normal SCVNGR points. These will make you feel awesome, but *do not* count for the trek.

How do I check my score?

Tap the 'Treks' tab in the SCVNGR app. If you have done challenges in the trek, your score will be listed underneath the trek name in the 'My treks' section.

How do I see the point leaders?

Bring up The Bay Citizen Bluegrass trek in the SCVNGR app and tap the 'Info' tab. The 25 players with the most points in the trek will be displayed in order.

How do I win a prize?

At the end of the festival (7pm PT on Sunday 10/3) the top point earners in the Bay Citizen Trek will win a prize. In the event of a tie, order of placement will be decided at random. Winners will be contacted via email on Tuesday 10/5/10.

I don't have an iPhone or Android. Can I still play?

Unfortunately, no. We'll be expanding to other platforms soon.

CONTEST TIMELINE:

The contest takes place from Friday, October 1, 2010 at 2pm (PT) through Sunday, October 3, 2010 at 7:00pm (PT). The contest winners will be notified by SCVNGR via the e-mail listed on their SCVNGR account beginning Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 12:00pm (PT). The contest winners must reply by Friday, October 8, 2010 at 5:00pm (PT) or alternate contest winner(s) will be selected.

DESCRIPTION OF PRIZES:

The top point scorers in The Bay Citizen Bluegrass Trek will be entered into a random drawing. Once a name has been pulled, entrant is ineligible to win a second time. Winner may receive one of the following:

• Guitar signed by Warren Hellman and The Wronglers (Approximate retail value $300) - 1 winner
• Two tickets to any show at the Great American Music Hall or Slim's* (Approximate retail value $80) - 5 winners
• One-year subscription to The New York Times Crossword Puzzle Society (Approximate retail value $50) - 1 winner
• Limited Edition 10th Annual Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival keychain (Approximate retail value $25) - 15 winners

* Excluding benefit shows and New Year's Eve.

SELECTION OF WINNER:

The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. The contest winner(s) will be determined based on the top point scorers in The Bay Citizen Bluegrass Trek for the full duration of the contest from October 1, 2010 at 2:00pm (PT) until October 3, 2010 at 7:00pm (PT). In the case of a tie, the tie will be broken with a random drawing. The final top scorers will be entered into a random drawing to receive one of the 4 prize packages listed under Description of Prizes.

ELIGIBILITY:

Entrants must be eighteen years of age or older. Use of an automated method of submission will result in disqualification.

METHODS OF ENTRY:

Entrants may go to www.baycitizen.org/scvngr, the iPhone App Store, or the Android Market to download the SCVNGR application to an iPhone or Android smart phone. The application will track the top scores throughout the duration of game play, concluding on October 3.
