Court workers represented by the Service Employees International Union Local 1021 voted yesterday to give their bargaining unit the right to call a strike if contract negotiations remain deadlocked. Union representatives announced that 95 percent of members voted to support a strike at a press conference at the Hall of Justice today. Court workers are renegotiating their contract and are none too happy with a proposed 5 percent pay cut. ......
Heal the Bay released its annual “report card” that ranks more than 650 California beaches. The report rates cleanliness on an A to F scale based on weekly levels of bacterial pollution tracked from April to October 2011.
