The experience of forced separation of parents and children due to incarceration is impossible to put into words. But, after eight months of conversation with imprisoned local fathers and youth with parents in jail and prison, in collaboration with nonprofit Community Works, artist Evan Bissell has created a series of paintings to represent that experience. Called "What Cannot Be Taken Away," Bissell made eight life-size portraits, as well as wall drawings, installation pieces, audio, documentation of the process and a workshop series. Through Sept. 12.
