San Francisco police released a few more details Wednesday regarding the shooting at a vigil for Castro shooting victim Stephen Powell.

Two teens were shot about 8 p.m. Monday at the vigil on the corner of Third Street and Quesada Avenue for 19-year-old Powell, who was slain during a Gay Pride celebration in the Castro Saturday night.

In Monday’s shooting, according to police, about 40 people were gathered on the corner of Third Street and Quesada Avenue in the Bayview district for Powell's vigil when shots rang out about 8 p.m. from a passing car.

According to new information released Wednesday, when officers arrived, the two victims had already left.

Witnesses told police that a gray van involved in the incident had fled the scene. A description of the van was broadcast to police units in the area, and officers spotted the van speeding on a nearby street. Although the officers activated their sirens, the van did not stop until it arrived at San Francisco General Hospital and the officers learned the two victims were inside.

One victim was shot in the leg and the other in the cheek. Police say the injuries are not life-threatening.

The suspect vehicle is described as a white van possibly containing three suspects. Members of the Gang Task Force are investigating the shooting, police said.

The shooting came on the heels of a fatal shooting at a vigil in Oakland last week.

Capt. Greg Suhr said investigators do not know if the shooters had any connection to Powell, but "they were targeting people at the vigil we believe were in a rival set."

Ed Perkins, 20, of San Francisco was originally arrested on a charge of murder for Powell’s death, but after further investigation, authorities determined that none of the seven bullet casings found at the scene matched the gun Perkins was carrying at the party.

The district attorney’s office has charged him with possession of a concealed weapon and possession of a loaded weapon.

Police still have not identified Powell’s shooter.
