Michael Moore visited Occupy Oakland on Friday to bring the protesters a message from Occupy Wall Street.

“Last night, I was at Zuccati Park,” said Michael Moore “I’m here to bring you greetings… Thank you Oakland, Thank you Oakland.”

Moore, the Academy Award documentary filmmaker and provocateur, offered words of encouragement to the more than 500 people gathered in the outdoor auditorium at Frank Ogawa Plaza, where Occupy Oakland is camping out.

Moore told Occupy Oakland to “be patient” with the mainstream media, which is unaccustomed to the leaderless, popular movement.

“They’re used to just a few people showing up with a few signs and then they go away and have a meeting in the basement of the Unitarian Church,” Moore said.

Moore has been on a tour of Occupy encampments around the country.  He was in Occupy Wall Street Thursday night in the freezing rain and recently visited Occupy Grass Valley, which is about 150 miles north-east of Oakland.
