Oakland police said one person is in critical condition following a shooting Tuesday night in East Oakland that injured six people. Another person died in separate shooting earlier in the night.
Police are still investigating and looking for one or more suspects.
Police said officers found 22-year-old Allen Collins on the 2500 block of Market Street about 6 p.m. Tuesday, suffering from gunshot wounds. Collins was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 510-238-3821.
According to police, the six shootings occurred at 89th Avenue and D Street, but the victims were found in various places, including inside a home, on the street, and another at Highland Hospital's emergency room.
According to KTVU, police received reports of gunfire at about 9:45 p.m. When they arrived, they found bullet casings and a trail of bloodshed.
First, police found a man struck in the back by a stray bullet in the living room of his home at 1107 89th Avenue. About a block away, police found a second victim with gunshot wounds in his stomach and arm. While investigators were on scene, a third victim walked up to officers with a leg wound. Police put out a call to local hospitals and received word of another victim with a chest wound at Highland Hospital about 10 p.m. About ten minutes later, two more victims were found at 90th Avenue. Police said all of the victims are adults and two are not from Oakland.
Witnesses told police they saw two shooters in a vehicle. Police have not released a description. Anyone with information is asked to call 510-238-3426.
