This so-called sheriff ought to be rotting in prison for endangering the public not enforcing laws he doesn't like. That goes for practically every brain-dead "official" in San Francisco.

All illegal aliens are CRIMINALS! Parasites, too. Practically everything they do on U.S. soil is illegal. They need to be ferreted out, rounded up like cattle, punished for their numerous crimes, then booted back to whence they snuck in from with such extreme prejudice that they will never, ever think of violating our sovereignty again. Enough is enough.

I commend the Sheriff for doing this - it will help improve public safety. Under the current, deeply flawed S-Comm program, ICE pressures the jail to hold for an extra two days *victims* of domestic violence and people who have been brought in for offenses as minor as small traffic violations. These people haven't even had their day in court yet, and even if they are innocent still get torn from their families and deported. Immigrants want to live in safe communities, but this practice undermines trust between community members and police and makes it harder for crime victims and witnesses to come forward. There is NO legal requirement, though, to submit to ICE's unreasonable requests. And there is NO reason SF should submit to these requests when an unbalanced and inconsistent federal program endangers public safety and distracts from the work of fighting crime.

Hennessey is the best sheriff in the United States. His programs have cut the recidivism rate. He stands up for immigrants and has the best designed jails in the country. For 20 years he had a top aide who'd done years in prison for murder. He's low key and has gotten by far more cumulative votes than any official in SF history.

That said, he was a big time supporter of giving Aaron Rowand a long term contract, so he's not perfect.
