Two women are at San Francisco's City Hall attempting to get married, after U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker ruled that California's same-sex marriage ban violated the U.S. Constitution.
Crowds who gathered outside the federal courthouse in San Francisco marched to City Hall after the ruling was announced.
The intended brides are Vanessa Judicpa and Maria Ydil. They are currently filling out an application for a marriage license.
However, CNN is reporting that the judge has granted a temporary stay blocking same-sex marriages.
Update: City officials announced at 2:30 p.m. that because of the stay, no marriage licenses would be issued to same-sex couples. Judicpa and Ydil are still planning to hold a private marriage ceremony.
