Popular San Francisco shop Ike’s Place will close today following a ruling this morning by Superior Court Judge Peter. J. Busch.
Restaurant owner Ike Shehadeh never got to a chance to defend the restaurant, which has been under fire ever since it became a foodie sensation that attracted huge crowds and annoyed neighbors. Instead, the fate of the eatery was decided on a matter of law: Ike’s attorney had not submitted the proper paperwork to prevent the eviction.
“Everything that’s been alleged against us is not true,” Shehadeh said, his eyes welling up, moments following the judge’s ruling. “The only thing I was thinking about was the employees.” Forty-seven people work at the restaurant.
The eatery will be open until 5 p.m. today, for those who want to grab a sandwich at the 16th Street location.

Really, here is a guy who makes a hell of a sandwich, employs 47 people, and now he has to shut down because of a little neighborhood noise. Give me a break. Where is the SF spirit? Is Sarah Palin behind this? In SF we are supposed to love a little noise...its what we are about, openness, chatting up our neighbors. We are supposed to love a happening especially if its around good food, and a nice guy making a success of expanding from coffee to sandwiches. I love the lines at Ike's. Almost as much as I love hs sandwiches
