Oakland City Council member Rebecca Kaplan joined the assembly in downtown Oakland of those protesting the verdict of involuntary manslaughter in the trial of former BART police officer Johannes Mehserle, who shot and killed Oscar Grant.

Kaplan, who is running for mayor, said she agreed with protestors that the verdict did not deliver justice.
