Bus Drivers Literally Sick of Contract

Hundreds of AC Transit bus drivers called in sick for the second day in a row, the Chronicle reports. They're upset because the district imposed an old labor contract on the drivers after negotiations for a new contract broke down.

The bus drivers challenged the district and won the right to go before an arbitrator, but they won't be getting a ruling on an injunction they sought against the district until July 30.

Riders were left meanwhile to wait even longer for their buses. Reported one rider on Twitter: "Stuck at a bus stop for 30 minutes because of the AC Transit driver strike, not happy."
