I'm both happy and sad to announce an important change at The Bay Citizen: I have stepped down as editor in chief, and my colleague Steve Fainaru will be taking over as interim editor in chief. I'm leaving to pursue a new opportunity, the details of which will be announced shortly.
It's hard to believe that it's been only 18 months since I arrived in a temporary office as editorial employee number one. I'm very proud of what we've accomplished since our May, 2010 launch -- breaking a lot of news, crafting a great Bay Area section for the New York Times, developing new modes of multimedia reporting, building a partner network, and generally establishing ourselves as strong journalistic force in the region. I will greatly miss my many wonderful and talented colleagues here.
I take some comfort in knowing that the editorial operations are in good hands. Steve is a terrific editor and journalist, and together with the hugely talented Jeanne Carstensen, who has been appointed executive managing editor, I'm sure he will lead the organization to even greater heights. Thanks very much to you, our readers and members, for making all of this possible. I'll always remain an ardent supporter of The Bay Citizen.

Jonathan, just a quick note of appreciation and to thank you for your excellent editorship of The Bay Citizen which, under your stewardship, has been a refreshingly informative publication.
All the best to you in your future endeavors.

Ah Johnny, we hardly knew ya,
You've run a class operation. Hopefully the unbiased editorial content won't suffer. Once told my buddy Jens that I was working on an online school and he offered to be the janitor. I told him that there was no building and he said that that was even better.
Look out for invisible buildings bearing gifts.

Congratulations on founding and establishing the Bay Citizen, which I hope will help drive the public dialogue for many years to come, and good luck in your next adventure.

First Frank Rich moves on, and now Jonathan Weber!?
So that's yet another stop coming, on the must-read list. Well, with J.Weber's track record, and nose for the next big thing, this should be good.
Meanwhile, carry on Bay Citizen. Now more than ever.
Jonathan Weber
Thank you very much for the kind words, it is most appreciated.
I'm going to be the West Coast Bureau Chief for Reuters, overseeing bureaus in SF, LA and Seattle and all coverage from the West. A great match for my background and interests, and Reuters is investing heavily to bring their journalism to a new level. I'll still be here in SF, office is just a few blocks away!

Ditto to what Luke said.
