Airports have long been maligned as places that one would only hang out in when required, but SFO has been trying to cast off this image by rolling out a roster of eyebrow-raising extras.
The latest? A yoga room.
On Jan. 26, the airport will commemorate the opening of its “Zen Room” in Terminal 2, a place “designed to relax and enjoy a zen-like experience", according to a press release.
Already, SFO is an accredited museum, and Terminal 2 recently went through a much-lauded remodel to highlight its world class art collection. Terminal 2 also offers an alternative to the usual airport food fare from local companies like Cowgirl Creamery and Three Twins ice cream.
And the entertainment options aren't limited to food or art. Visitors can also hit up book readings from bold name authors and concerts from musicians like DJ Qbert.
This all raises the question: Now that SFO is basically the new Mission District, will people start living there a la Tom Hanks in "The Terminal"? Brings a whole new meaning to AirBnB.
