SF Sketchfest Announces 2012 Lineup: Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Elliott Gould, and More


SketchfestSF Sketchfest, the sprawling comedy festival that has come to encompass theater productions, live gameshows, and more, announced its 2012 lineup today, and as usual it's an embarrassment of riches. The festival will run from Jan. 19-Feb. 4. The full schedule will go live on the SF Sketchfest website today, and tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Dec. 11.

Performers include: Drew Carey, Jennifer Coolidge, Rachel Dratch, Chris Elliott, Will Forte, Elliott Gould, John Hodgman, Sally Kellerman, Marc Maron, Bruce McCulloch, Christopher Meloni, Laraine Newman, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, John Slattery, Kevin Smith, Reggie Watts, Fred Willard, The Upright Citizens Brigade, and The Groundlings.

Big events include a tribute night dedicated to Upright Citizens Brigade founders Matt Besser, Amy Poehler, Ian Roberts and Matt Walsh on Jan 22 at Cobb's Comedy Club.

David Wain, Michael Showalter, Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Christopher Meloni, Marguerite Moreau, Michael Ian Black, Ken Marino and Joe Lo Truglio will reunite for Wet Hot American Summer: The Live Radio Play at Marines' Memorial Theatre on Jan 21.

The closing night, on Feb. 5 at the Castro Theatre, will be a celebration of Robert Altman that includes a screening of M*A*S*H with a Q&A inlcuding actors Elliott Gould and Sally Kellerman, and Altman's wife, Kathryn Altman.

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL. Here is but a sampling of the rest of the lineup:

—Appearances from Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett of Mystery Science Theater 3000

—A 30th Anniversary screening of "The Dark Crystal".

—An SF Sketchfest Comedy NightLife at the California Academy of Sciences featuring Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant, of Reno 911!, and roster of other comedians including the local outfit Kasper Hauser.

—A screening of sneak preview clips of the documentary “Laughter Against the Machine” with W. Kamau Bell, Nato Green and Janine Brito, about their issue-oriented comedy tour of the U.S.

—The return of old-time radio style “The Thrilling Adventure Hour” featuring Busy Phillipps from Cougar Town, Paul F. Tompkins from Community, and others.

—Kevin Smith, Judy Greer, Will Wheaton, Beth Lisick, David Cross...

And much, much, much, much, much more.
