It's the Purple One's (aka Prince Rogers Nelson, aka The Artist Formerly Known as Prince) birthday today. In between bouts of moping because the fact that Prince is turning 53 makes you feel old, perhaps you could dust off that purple crushed-velvet onesie and drag your aged butt out to one of the Bay Area parties being thrown in his honor.
Brick and Mortar is throwing a Prince party tonight with Jazz Mafia All Stars, and Mission Mission blog is offering two free tickets to the person who posts the most compelling plea in the comments section.
You can keep the party going with Peaches Christ who will be hosting a sing-along screening of "Purple Rain", a bedrock feature of her Midnight Mass franchise, on July 1st at the Castro Theatre, attended by none other than Apollonia. (You know, the girl that Prince ditched in the waters of Lake Minnetonka. Because there is nothing more adorable than when a dude talks you into skinny-dipping and then strands you in a rural area.) (And if you don't get that reference, even more reason to go to the show.) Peaches Christ will conduct a Q&A with Apollonia before giving the audience a chance to ask some of their own burning questions. There's also a Sex Shooter bar serving up cocktails, a costume contest, a fashion show, and a pre-show cast with local drag luminaries.

Do you know of any East Bay events?

I do not! Dear readers, can you clue us in on any other Prince happenings in the Bay?
