Sometimes, as R. Kelly famously put to song, you just want a hug.
And University of San Francisco's School of Law is helping their students get their heaven-sent hugs with a unique program. In partnership with the SF SPCA, during finals week, law students get to "check out" dogs. And not just any dogs — certified therapy dogs. Here is a list, courtesy of a USF press release:
"Sophia Loren"- a Pit Bull/Weimaraner mix with a sweet heart.
"MotC"- a Golden Doodle with a wag and swagger.
“Blaise” – a Golden Retriever who loves college kids.
“Monk” – a St. Bernard to rescue stressed out law students from the finals week blues.
“Daphne” – a Black Labrador who will chase away anxiety.
These canine companions will be available starting tomorrow and are part of a wider attempt by the school to "humanize" legal studies (no pun intended.) For those who aren't in the midst of USF law finals but still want to hang out with some owner-less pets, check out the SPCA's regular volunteer programs.
And those who would pay to hang out with a puppy without actually paying its vet bills may be out of luck. Calls to Flexpetz, a start-up serving several cities with a pay-as-you-play, unearthed only a non-working phone number and their web site doesn't appear to have been updated since 2007.
