Dan McComas has spent the last fourteen years as a web developer, chief architect and founder of some of the industries’ largest business-to-business media organizations and advertising agencies. Dan specializes in distributed systems, data warehousing, analytics and web development. Dan was an early adopter of PHP in the enterprise and is now focusing on Python and Django as his primary web development tools. In addition to his corporate achievements, Dan is also the founder of the largest gift exchange website http://redditgifts.com, which has brought him international media attention.

Aurelio Tinio

Aurelio Tinio has eight years of experience as a web developer. Aurelio got his Computer Science degree at UCLA while working at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in order to support himself. After continuing his interest in the space industry at the X PRIZE Foundation he decided to move to San Francisco and explore opportunities that the vibrant Bay Area community had to offer. Prior to joining The Bay Citizen, Aurelio worked at Tippit as Senior Software Engineer, designing, implementing and managing the Focus.com property. Aurelio's love for code is matched only by his preoccupation with NBA basketball.

David Suriano

David Suriano's passion for user interface design began before the inception the internet. In 1987 he discovered the world of 2400 bps modems and local Michigan BBSes. By 1989 he was customizing the ANSI art interface of his own multi-node BBS. David later obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communications from Collins College in Tempe, Arizona. He has successfully been self-employed as a designer for over seven years, working with a diverse range of clientele from start-ups to billion dollar corporations.

Tasneem Raja

Tasneem Raja - Web Producer

Tasneem Raja is recent graduate of the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, where she was a pioneer student in the school's multimedia journalism program. She served as a web producer for Oakland North (oaklandnorth.net), one of three local news sites the journalism school launched in 2008 to bring innovative local coverage to under-served communities in the Bay Area. She specializes in interactive design, data visualization, and audio production, and received her school's Wired Magazine Award for Excellence in a New Media Project in 2010. Before crossing over to the "dark side," Tasneem was a staff news reporter and copyeditor at the Chicago Reader.

Jennifer Benka

Jennifer Benka - VP of Development

Jennifer Benka has close to twenty years of nonprofit fundraising and management experience, and has raised funds for a range of local and national arts and social service organizations. Most recently, she served for eight and a half years as the Managing Director of Poets & Writers. Headquartered in New York, Poets & Writers is the largest nonprofit literary organization in the country and publisher of the leading trade magazine for creative writers. Jen holds a BA in Journalism from Marquette University and an MFA in Writing from The New School University.

Rose Roll

Rose Roll has a background in strategy and marketing from her five years as a consultant with McKinsey & Company. At McKinsey, she focused on the healthcare and nonprofit industries. She was part of the founding team that conceptualized and launched The Bay Citizen in the fall of 2009. In her role at The Bay Citizen, Rose leads the organization’s efforts in membership, marketing, and communications. She has an undergraduate degree from Princeton University and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Kristin Crawford

Kristin Crawford - Manager of Operations

Kristin Crawford, Manager of Operations, comes to the Bay Citizen with three years of experience working for McKinsey & Company, a global consulting firm. She studied Art and Design as an undergraduate at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, followed by a stint living in Spain. She returned to San Francisco to be surrounded by the creative energy for which it is so well known. In her position at The Bay Citizen she will be in charge of daily operations, event planning, and assisting the CEO.
